Business Statistics and Accounting are trying to screw me over. P, Z and T values don't matter to me and I honestly don't really care whether Delta Cargo should capitalize or expense their $3,000 decal for their new crane.
Zut alors.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Business statistics sounds like a class from hell! Are you going for business? I am assuming so!
ReplyDeleteWouldn't advertising be an expense? Yeah, statistics is pretty dry stuff; hard to stop day-dreaming in class about something hard lol. Hey, all this stuff will make you some bucks someday. bfn - Wayne :)
ReplyDelete@Jacob - they're both classes from hell haha
ReplyDelete@Wayne - Well, in the case we had, it was stated that management would require the decal to be applied thus implying it should be capitalized as it is required to put the crane into service. However, as it does not extend the life of the asset or improve efficiency, it also has the potential to be expensed. It's low price (compared to the other expenses) also is a secondary reason it could be expensed rather than capitalized since we don't have an exact capitalize/expense threshold number to work with. So with all of these things considered, we decided to expense rather than capitalize eventhough we could have gotten away with either by explaining answer. Yay accounting! haha
Hey now, take it easy on us nerdy accountant types...
ReplyDeleteHaha, ironic thing is, I am pursuing a double major in finance and potentially accounting or IB
